Overview

Barn Weddings At Freight

Built in the late 1800’s, FREIGHT served as a train depot & lumber yard until becoming an event space in 2017. With FREIGHT, You get the charm & texture of a barn wedding venue with the vitality of a saved historic landmark. To get married in a venue with such a powerful metaphor like a depot can only bring strength to your union.

Main Hall

The interior lifts your eye & your heart upward. With contemporary, custom chandeliers lighting up the 32’ ceiling & historic trusses, you can feel the grandeur of America’s train industry. A getting ready room, full service bar, catering kitchen, & accessible restrooms complete the package.

The Whiskey Lime Lounge

The Whiskey Lime Lounge is our set-piece, eye spy, whiskey sipping shed full of antiques from Leadville & the entire FREIGHT site. Available to guests of the hotel & depot, this fun nook in the courtyard can be used for hiding before walking down the aisle, couples photos, getting ready or just hanging out.

"Getting Ready" Room

Our sunny, getting ready room off the main depot space is set up for wedding prep. With mirrors, plants & cushy velvet furniture, this room offers an oasis for intimate moments before a wedding.

Our Rustic Bar

Covering whatever service or budget you need, FREIGHT’s custom bar is a beautiful set piece at every event.

The Freight Depot

FREIGHT’s depot houses the main hall, getting ready room, & bar. With 2,000’ of deck space, you can look out over the courtyard & Continental Divide or wave at the tourist train that chugs by most days. Our state of the art sound system allows you to listen to your favorite tunes both inside & outside.

Courtyard

Perfect for cocktail hour or an on-site ceremony, the courtyard hosts the Whiskey Lime Lounge, Red Shed, and western dock of the depot. Our in-house beverage burro loves to wander the crowds, serving up delicious drinks with a smile.

The Red Shed
The Red Shed is FREIGHT’s historic lumber shed turned bandstand. South facing, this modern stage has everything necessary to light up the crowd or host a ceremony. The sun sets over the continental divide off the shoulder of the courtyard. Edged with aspens, the Red Shed is a component of the FREIGHT site that you just won’t find anywhere else.

Unlike many venues, we do not require you to work with specific vendors. Unique to us, we include a wedding planner with our services when you book FREIGHT for a wedding. Carrie, of Stellar and Sage, has curated a list of Lake County vendors vetted for quality of product and quality of service.

Leadville, CO

Off-Site Ceremonies

Twin Lakes

This is 15 minute drive from FREIGHT and a managed by the Forest Service. You must obtain a permit for groups larger that 75 guests. Parking fees apply ($7/car). Please note that you can not reserve an exact spot for your wedding, since this land is public. But, we can do our best to do so.

Turquoise Lake

Also a 15 minute drive from FREIGHT, we have Turquoise Lake. Just like Twin Lakes, this is managed by the Forest Service. You must obtain a permit for groups larger that 75 guests. Parking fees apply ($7/car). Please note that you can not reserve an exact spot for your wedding, since this land is public. But, we can do our best to do so.

Leadville Railroad
The passenger depot is adjacent to the FREIGHT Depot & unaffiliated. Take your guests 45 minutes north of Leadville to the historic water tower where they unload for a ceremony overlooking the Arkansas Valley. Enjoy cocktails on the ride back to FREIGHT for your reception. This private train departs at 5:15 pm & costs $6,000 to book.
The Meadow
Just a 15 minute drive from Freight, this private property has an obstructed view of the Sawatch Range. There is ample parking & easy access to the sagebrush meadow. The landowners only ask that a donation is made to a local non-profit in order to utilize their land.
