Colorado Destination Weddings: 6 Breathtaking Locations to Consider

by Freight Leadville Co.

Colorado might be a rectangle, but it’s the best darn rectangle in all these United States.

And that’s a hill we’re willing to fight for.

Because of that, it’s no shock to us or anyone else that so many couples choose to have a Colorado destination wedding instead of staying home.

I mean, why stay home when you could come to Colorado?

Wherever home is, does it have the Rockies in it? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to throw shade on wherever home is for you,… unless it’s Nebraska (just kidding).

The point here is that Colorado rocks, and that’s not just because it’s in the Rockies (ok, I’ll stop).

Anyway, here’s a short list of places to consider having your Colorado destination wedding in 2025 (or whenever you’re reading this).

1. Della Terra Mountain Chateau (Estes Park)

Our first entry on this list (although they’re not ranked in any particular order) is one that we feel represents the kind of classy, Rocky Mountain chateau look.

It’s almost ski chalet-like.

But basically, it’s the upper-crust answer to some of the more rustic venues on this list.

Different couples tend to prefer one or the other.

And in our opinion, it’s better to lean hard into one or the other than to try to find a neutral middle ground that’s somehow both but neither.

If you want that uniquely Rocky Mountain brand of modern luxury, you should check this one out.

2. Storm King Mountain Ranch (Montrose)

Storm King Ranch is the first barn venue we’ll mention on this list, but it won’t be the last.

Colorado has always been a pioneer state.

That’s kind of what the state’s whole identity and history are built on.

And the reason we’re including multiple barn venues here is that this pioneer spirit and aesthetic have manifested in slightly different ways in different parts of the state.

In other words, there’s some internal diversity among barn venues.

So rather than only give you one, we thought we’d give you a few that are pretty different from each other so you can compare them and decide which one you like best.

3. Lionscrest Manor (Lyons)

If you’re a nature lover, this one is a serious contender.

They’ve got 50 of some of Colorado’s best acres north of Denver for you to explore and enjoy.

Like Della Terra Chateau, Lionscrest Manor is all about modern luxury and class while still being ensconced in the sweeping landscapes and natural scenery of The Rocky Mountain State.

For vistas and views that you can use, and backdrops for your wedding photos, Lionscrest Manor is a top choice.

4. Hatchet Ranch (Pueblo)

In the Colorado City neighborhood is Hatchet Ranch.

We’ve mentioned them before.

But we’re mentioning them here again because they are easily one of the best options for a Colorado destination wedding if you want an Old West, Spaghetti Western kind of vibe.

Where other venues in the state are in the Rocky Mountains and lean into that part of the state’s aesthetic, you’ll have a hard time finding a place that better embodies the cowboy rancher spirit of Colorado’s rugged east.

Their website could admittedly use a bit of work, but check out their photos.

5. The Barn at Raccoon Creek (Littleton)

Located on the Grant Ranch on the south side of Denver, this is another of those classic barn venues.

But this one is pretty unique in its own right, with a host of awards from WeddingWire to its name.

And when we say “classic barn venue,” we do mean classic

They’ve got the big red barn with the sliding white doors and everything.

To make it even cooler, the whole place has been family-owned since the 1800s, so it’s effectively a local landmark.

If that old-timey rural Americana look is what you’re going for, you wouldn’t be wrong to consider having your Colorado destination wedding at Raccoon Creek.

6. Shameless Plug: Freight Leadville (Leadville)

You knew this was coming.

We know you’re not shocked.

Of course, we’re going to include our own venue on a list of the top venues for a Colorado destination wedding.

However, we think we earn our spot on such a list, and we’re sure you’ll see why when you browse through our website.

We’ve mentioned other venues that embody either the rural farm or Wild West aesthetic, but we like to think we’re Colorado’s prime example of the pioneer mining town aesthetic.

That’s because we occupy a historic space in one of the state’s most storied mining towns.

And to make it better, when you get married here, you don’t only have our venue but the whole town at your disposal for photos, outdoor activities, and whatever else your heart desires.

You Can’t Go Wrong In Colorado

Unless your wedding gets hit by a landslide or an avalanche or something… I guess that would be going wrong in Colorado.

But that’s not likely to happen.

And if you’re choosing a place where it is more likely to happen, you’re probably already aware of that and accept it as something that comes with the territory.

In seriousness, though, every corner of this very rectangular state is breathtaking, and you’re sure to have no shortage of sweeping landscapes at your Colorado destination wedding to serve as backdrops for your photos.
